Job Description:
Amazon is seeking an experienced and business oriented Senior Engineering Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of highly complex logistic process automation and storage projects for the continued expansion of our MENA fulfillment network.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and conduct weekly standing meetings with internal teams and external vendors/contractors to plan and track deliverables
- End-to-end ownership for large-scale engineering projects (planning, design, installation, commissioning and qualification, launch support)
- Lead technical design reviews and propose design solutions for material handling and storage solutions that meet both business needs and global design standards
- Collaborate closely with various internal teams such as World Wide Engineering, Construction, Operations, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, IT and Procurement
- Assess and communicate project status, drive escalations on potential risks and delays across multiple teams
- Lead critical path items, dive deep on technical details and provide innovative solutions to resolve issues
- This role requires extensive travel (up to 80%) to locations in MENA and occasionally to international sites.
- Create, submit and track the relevant CAPEX documentation to ensure that all projects are delivered within budget and best overall value
- Assist in providing equipment specifications and technical support to procurement and other business partners for best value and competition
Job Requirements:
- Excellent working knowledge using MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project and related software
- Fluency in English required
- Ability to lead internal teams and manage vendor relations
- Strong knowledge about automated material handling systems, packaging technologies and storage solutions
- Project execution experience in a construction environment (newbuild) and/or operational environment (buildout)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)® Certification or equivalent
- Six Sigma or Lean certification
- Comprehensive understanding of operational as well as reliability and maintenance processes including relevant software tools
- Arabic speaker is a plus
- German, French, Polish are a plus
- Flexibility to travel up to 80% of time across projects in MENA
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Proven technical leadership and project management experience in developing and executing large scale engineering projects
