Job Description:
The Residential Hall Coordinator for each hall assists in creating community for their block and ensuring the safety and security of the residents. The Residential Hall Coordinator will oversee the full-time staff (depending on residential hall block) and student staff and work closely with the Residential Life Resource Officers (RLRO). In the evenings between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. there will be a staff member on-duty so each RHC can expect to be on call for a week once or twice a month. In order to fulfill duty expectation, this position will be assigned a studio apartment on campus. This position reports to the Complex Manager for the Student Residential Life Department (SRLD).
This is a 52-week, live-on-campus position, which requires a flexible work environment, plus on-call responsibilities. Contract is subject to review and renewal on an annual basis, for no more than three consecutive years.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage student conduct issues as noted in the residential policies and Student Handbook, working with the Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution department.
- Document inappropriate behavior.
- Follow-up on hall maintenance, cleaning and other issues reported to IT and Facilities departments.
- Build and facilitate a strong team of full-time staff and student staff.
- Handle office documentation and correspondence.
- Collaborate and coordinate efforts with other residence hall coordinators, complex managers and senior leadership in SRLD.
- Welcome students and parents with an engaging opening/move-in day.
- Oversee a residential block of 250-350 students.
- Ensure a friendly relationship with students in the building/block and create a strong community.
- Evaluate student staff once a year.
- Work with RAs, Student Engagement and Leadership Department, Student Athletics and Recreation Department and other units on campus to support programs and the residential curriculum model.
- Coordinate and serve in an on-call duty rotation each evening from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. for a population of 700-800 residential students.
- Prepare student staff duty and desk schedules each semester.
- Manage emergency operations according to SRLD and safety and security policies.
- Manage student conduct issues as noted in the residential policies and Student Handbook, working with the Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution department.
- Carry out fire drills each semester and other emergency preparation initiatives in coordination with the Residential Life Resource Officers (RLRO) and the AUS safety and security department.
- Evaluate full-time staff once a year based on performance expectations.
- Refer students when necessary to the proper resources on campus, e.g., University Health Services, University Counseling Services, Academic Support Center, etc.
- Work with faculty and staff who may be working with Living/Learning Communities.
- Supervise one to two full-time staff (depending on the building or block assigned).

Qualification & Experience:
- Master’s degree preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience living on campus while in college preferred or experience in a student leadership position while in college.
