Job Description:
The Senior Accountant-General Ledger performs the day-to-day activities in the Accounting and Reporting function of the Finance Department.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with balance sheet preparation and monthly account reconciliations.
- File and maintain all journal entries for internal and audit purposes.
- Perform account analysis to ensure that journal entries and balances are correct.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
- Assist with monitoring the investments of the university.
- Implementing controls to ensure that GL accounts are reconciled.
- Enter financial data such as accruals, deferrals, reclassifications and interdepartmental entries into the ledger on a monthly basis, as well as preparing reports.
- Assist with financial audits.
- Perform audits on financial data to assure its accuracy and truthfulness.
- Keep abreast of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.
- Maintain and update fixed assets register.
- Prepare monthly journal entries.
- Reconcile accounts with the general ledger.
- Assist in the preparation of UAE VAT filing.
- Assist in automating processes and procedures.
- Ensure that financial information complies with professional and regulatory standards (IAS /IFRS).
- Expense allocations and revenue.
- Prepare financial analysis reports.
- Gather supporting documentation and performing recordkeeping.
Qualification & Experience:
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA/CPA/ACA/CMA).
- Knowledge and understanding of UAE VAT requirements.
- Six years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting.
- ERP systems experience.
- IFRS experience.
- G/L accounts reconciliation.
- Four years of relevant experience.
