Job Description:

The role incumbent is responsible for the direct care of patients assigned based on Nursing Process and maintenance of accurate records and demonstration of professional standards through continuing education and development. The Staff Nurse is also responsible for the orientation and induction of newly joined nurses in the ward.

Job Responsibilities:

• Updates the nursing care plan continually as patient status demands.
• Assesses family adaptation, coping skills and the need for crisis or other intervention.
• Delivers care using the nursing process, setting priorities in the delivery of care.
• Commences discharge planning as soon as it is feasible in co-operation with patient and significant others.
• Utilizes techniques of observation, interview, measurement and physical examination in making an assessment.
• Obtains and documents a patient assessment which incorporates all available data/information.

Job Requirements:

• Skill in handling neonates on phototherapy and incubator.
• Demonstrate skill neonatal drug and fluid calculations
• Safe insertion, placement and removal of nasogastric tubes
• Demonstrate skill in E.T & tracheostomy suctioning.
