Job Description:

This Job Description may be adjusted by the Headteacher according to the changing needs of the school. This post is subject to the conditions of employment contained in the Jebel Ali School contract and to work in line with new COVID guidelines in supporting students and staff.

To carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school’s policies, under the direction of the Head of Secondary.

Job Responsibilities:

• leading at least two after-school activities over the academic year;
• prepare and present informative reports to parents.
• actively supporting and promoting the school through positive relations including attendance at PTA events.
• taking account of pupils’ needs by providing structured learning opportunities which develop the areas of learning identified in National and local policies;
• assess and record pupils’ progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed, monitor strengths and weaknesses, inform planning and recognise the level at which the pupil is achieving;
• undertake assessment of students as requested by departmental and school procedures;
• ensuring the effective and efficient deployment of classroom support, where applicable;
• mark and monitor pupils’ work and set targets for progress;
• using a variety of teaching strategies which involve planned adult intervention, first-hand experience and talk as a vehicle for learning;
• assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching;
• ensuring pupils acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills and understanding appropriate to the subject taught;
• match approach to content, structure information, present a set of key ideas and use appropriate vocabulary
• select appropriate learning resources and develop study skills through library, ICT and other sources;
• encouraging pupils to think and talk about their learning, develop self control and independence, concentrate and persevere, and listen attentively;
• keeping up-to-date with developments in education;
• use effective questioning, listen carefully to pupils, give attention to errors and misconceptions
• evaluating own teaching critically to improve effectiveness;

Job Requirements:

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive approach to both individual and collaborative professional development.
• A strong focus on the pastoral care of children, understanding the balance between academic and social progress and support, as well as the ability to identify safeguarding concerns.
• A full working knowledge of The National Curriculum for England and its associated assessment practices.

Qualification & Experience:

• A qualified secondary teacher with appropriate teaching qualification (i.e. B.Ed and/or PGCE and degree in your relevant subject).
